The answer is 3 ducks. There is always one in the middle and either 2 in the front or the back. 

I think Abe and earl are the ones lying, but I think Abe took it. 

For the circle picture there has to be four circles in a row and 5 rows and in the shape of a star there is 5 rows of 4 circles.
